“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14 KJV)
I am an author. I love words. So much can be expressed through words. But all of the words of every author who ever was or ever will be cannot compare to the Word made flesh. Jesus is the Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.” (John 1:1-3) Then in Genesis 1:1-3 we read, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Jesus was that Word. Jesus is 'the light of the world.’ John 8:12, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” God created everything with His Word: the ocean I love so much, the flowers, birds, animals, the sky, trees, beauty of every kind, and He made us in His own image. (Genesis 3) He breathed His breath into us. He breathed Himself into the womb of Mary; His Spirit once more moving upon the waters, and the Word became flesh splitting the darkness from the light, and dwelling among us—so that He could make a way to dwell in us. Jeremiah 31:33 “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Jesus; the Word made flesh, laid down His flesh and died on the Cross so that now the Word is made flesh in us. “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) Hear John 1:14 again: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” Every time someone truly repents and accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior the Word is made flesh. God puts Christ in you through His Holy Spirit and you are no longer your own. Jesus is written on your heart. And the world, and all its cares, sin and all its residue no longer controls you, because the Word, who is faithful and true, has been engrafted on your heart. Revelation 21:5-7 says this: “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” The first Christmas the Word became flesh. At the Cross Jesus made a way for flesh to become the Word; so intimately entangled in Him that His life becomes ours. “I have been crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) This Christmas let the Word become flesh in you…..
