"And though a man might prevail against him who is alone, two will withstand him. A threefold cord is not quickly broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:12 AMPC)
Whole Heart Bind my heart to Yours with cords of love and grace with a scarlet thread with a tether of Your mercy with the beauty of Your face Bind my heart to Yours let me not drift or depart chasing after other things wandering in the wilderness light transposing dark Bind my heart to Yours a living sacrifice make me a willingly repentant one a humble soul rescued a captive now set free Bind my heart to Yours as a husband to his bride forsaking all others intimately, beautifully one each for the other died Bind my heart to Yours our heartbeats become one Your will overtaking mine Your love changing, transforming as my whole heart to Yours succumbs.... Do you know what it is to have someone overtake you when you are by yourself? Have you ever been up against someone who is much bigger and stronger than you? I do. I have. And I don't think there is a place where I have ever felt more alone. There was no one to defend me, fear enclosed me like a tomb, and although I fought, there was no choice in the end but to relent. But what if someone had come to my defense? We, together, would have most likely been able to prevail. And what if there were three of us? Then we most certainly would have overcome and sent the assailant to flight. "A threefold cord is not quickly broken." Why? Because each of the three cords is wrapped around the other two; they are intertwined, thereby increasing their strength. Likewise it is with God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In 1 John 5: 6-8 we read, "This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." Jesus came as God in the flesh, He was born of the Virgin Mary (water), He was baptized in water (John the Baptist), and His feet were washed with water before His death on the Cross (tears of the sinful woman, Luke 7). He then became the perfect sacrifice by shedding His blood on the Cross where our forgiveness was purchased by His blood, and our redemption secured through His blood. His Spirit then descended into the lower parts of the earth and conquered death, hell and the grave. Then He rose again by the Spirit of God. And now the spirit of a man or woman is born again by His Spirit when they surrender to His Lordship. All of this occurs because of the threefold cord of Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the spirit, the water, and the blood. And now I am never alone. My threefold cord is always with me. Now He is "an ever present help in time of need." (Psalm 46:1) Now He is seated at the right hand of God the Father. Now, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:13) Now "no weapon formed against me shall prosper." (Isaiah 54:17) Now, "no one and nothing can snatch me out of His hands." (John 10:29) Now "I am a new creation, behold, all things have become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17) Now I am "cleansed from all unrighteousness by His shed blood." (1 John 1:9) Now "I am not my own but I have been bought with a price, with the precious blood of Christ, and therefore I glorify God in my body and in my mind, which are Gods." (1 Corinthians 1:19-20/1 Peter 1:19) Now "where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty." (2 Corinthians 3:17) Now "I will not fear, nor be dismayed, He says to me Fear not, for I am with you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my mighty right hand." (Isaiah 41:10) Now I am "made alive in Him." (Ephesians 2) Now "I am dead, and my life is hidden in Christ with God." (Colossians 3:3) Now I can "walk in newness of life." (Romans 6) Now "in Him I live and move and have my being." (Acts 17:28) Now no matter what this world brings, no matter what I gain, or what I lose, no matter the circumstance, no matter the trial...I am tethered to Christ Jesus, bound to Him, to His heart and to His love in a way in which we are so intertwined we will never be apart...not ever. And there is such amazing comfort in that, such unbelievable hope in that, such grace, and love in that. "My Beloved is mine, and I am His." (Song of Solomon 2:16) If you are His you don't serve a god made of wood or stone, or a god of flesh who is no god at all, but you serve an Almighty, ever present, risen Savior who reigns and rules forever, who came and lived and died for you, so you now no longer live for yourself but unto Christ Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. Let Him have your heart, your life, your past, your present, and your future because He alone is God, the God who is worthy and able to "meet your every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
